It rained the day of and before his party, so all of the plans i had, had to be trown out the window, and we had the party inside not fun.

The birthday boy, can you see how short his hair was?

For food we had we had

  • Chicken Enchilades
  • Spanish Rice
  • Refried Beans
  • 7 Layer Dip
  •  Fruit and Veggie Platter
  • Chips and Dip
  • and hot dog for the kids
For drinks we had
  • Water

last minute centerpieces. So easy to make and soooo cute. I got  the idea from an episode of 20 kids and counting with The Duggar Family. Its just a roll
of tissue and wrapped in tissue paper. and I used super hero cutouts, to decorate like confetti.

Activities

the boys played basketball, and you can see Tye in the mixed

We pulled Tye's jmper into  the garage, oh and that's my little cousin Dae
the kids where about to decorate Mask that I got from Oriental Trading Company, and Capes that   I made

Sad to say, that the big kids enjoyed them even more than the younger ones, lol.

some of the adults, where in the backyard around the barbeque pit trying to stay warm.

The tables
the party favor and gift table

to prepare for the Candy Buffet, I started going to trift shops to find apothecary jars, and i scored, at most, the  I spent no more 6 stores, and the rest I either got at Wal- Mart or Ross Dress for Less.

the candy I got at at Sams Club, Winco and Costco I got hard candies, and some other stuff, after halloween on clearance, and stuff it in the deep freezer :o)

Once Upon a Curl... a Poem

So awhile back I had one of my talented  college classmate Chellsea Lynn write a poem, and I have to say  loved it....! it was/ is awesome,

Braids, Locs, Pin Curls
Plaits, Buns, Ponytails
Connected by Ribbons and Barrettes

High-top Fades, Ducktails, and Braids
Enhanced with beads and circular Waves
Curly Hues of Sandy Brown, Blonde, Red and Black Tresses
Mapped out strategically on top of their Crowns

Multicultural smiles on masses of high and low cheekbones
Centered by toothless grins
Smirks with dimpled cheeks and chins

Once Upon A CurlThere were little Boys and Girls
Loving themselves
For whom they were born to be

Beautiful Princes and Princesses
One day to evolve into Kings and Queens

Once Upon A CurlStraight, Kinky, Curly, Nappy
When curl patterns didn’t matter

Once Upon A CurlWhen life was much simpler

and did i mention, she not only writes, but has an awesomegenresall  voice, in all genres

here's a video clip with her and 2 other of my friends messing around in the music building... the author of the poem is the secon solo enjoy, and so them some love on facebook SU Jazzy Jags and her Jazzy Jags,  and youtube page let them know Once Upon a Curl sent you

Corn rows and beads on Boys Update

Well its been 1 week and his lasted pretty good considering i didn't use any products to help keep it. As you can see his edges never stay in the braids.
But he loved the beads and shells on the end of his cornrowed braids... he has been shaking his head so much, that i almost wanted to take them out..

oh and i forgot to mention, we are up to 10 beads. Before he cut his hair , we where close to 30

Halloween.... Hair Carnival

It is that time again for another hair carnival. How lucky are you readers, 3 different carnivals in the same month, If you missed the breast cancer awareness carnival or the Halloweens past, you can check them out by clicking the links,

This year Tye went as Caption Ameriica(?) is that his name? you may ask why i have the costume but don't know who it is? I got this costume last year for my son's 3rd Superhero Birthday Party  , (link comingg soon)

and best part it was 90 percent off I think  paid no more than 2 dollars,

He's rocking a mini fro, the plan was to have it all nice and picked   out so i can post some pictures over at Baby Big Hair, but didn't work,

i have to say he was the cutest super hero of the night.
We only made it to 10 houses because we got home late, but we made out with two plastic bags full of candy... told you he was cute, everyone kept gushing over him and giving him more. It could also have to do with the fact that there was another little girl dressed as wonder woman with the biggest curliest fro ever..... :o)

He's raising his fist in the air, Lol all he needs is a pic......

Corn rows and beads on Boys

So we took a break from the afro and ponytails, and we did Braids, with his favorite Beads.

we started off with clean and shampooed hair, ( stay tune for a tutorial)
so excited about his growth, its thicker than what it was last year

I didn't have any particular design in my head, while braided so we just did something simple.

Even though the braids look good without the beads,, we wanted to go a step further.. Well truthfully, I wanted to just try out some of the new beads we have.

this mix of browns, tans and whites..... this package is the perfect hair beads for little boys, who want to wear something besides, clear of black. And the shells, I think just the icing on the cake, and These beads are the perfect accessory for Girls, teens, and toddlers with naturally curly, straight, wavy and kinky  hair and everything in between
